Mission

The mission of Keene Pride is to promote the visibility of LGBTQ+ people in the Monadnock Region, create community-building programs and develop a coalition of services, organizations and businesses that embrace and serve the LGBTQ+ population.

How Keene Pride serves our community

Keene Pride produces over 30 community events per year for the LGBTQ+ community and allies. Events range from movie nights to educational panels, barbecues, parties and much more and culminate with Keene Pride Week in September. Keene Pride Week includes a large main stage show at the Colonial Theatre with performances by “Ru Paul’s Drag Race” stars, and Keene Pride Festival in Downtown Keene. The events Keene Pride produces are incredibly important for building community within the LGBTQ+ population, many of whom can feel extremely isolated in rural areas. Feelings of isolation can lead to depression, substance abuse, and higher risk of suicide which is why Keene Pride is focused on uniting, providing support and creating a more inclusive community for LGBTQ+ people in the Monadnock Region. Events produced by Keene Pride include:

• Keene Pride Festival
• Pride Prom
• Pride BBQ Party
• Pride Educational Panels
• Movie Nights
• Teen Nights Out at the YMCA
• Displaying the AIDS Quilt at Franklin Pierce and Keene State
• Collaborations with Monadnock Music
• Pride Halloween Party
• Youth Open Mics
• Youth Book Club
• Family game nights
• Family sledding parties
