Walpole, NH — On June 2, Savings Bank of Walpole (SBW) team members and Walpole community members gathered at the Bank’s 11 Westminster Street location in downtown Walpole to seal a time capsule commemorating the Bank’s 150th anniversary year.
The custom piggy bank-shaped capsule contains a collection of items representing SBW and the communities it serves, including photos, customer and employee notes, newspaper articles, marketing materials, a penny (production stopped in 2025), commemorative SBW items, copies of the Bank’s 150th anniversary newsletter The Depositor, and a list of the 150 Good Deeds completed during the anniversary celebration.
Two time capsules were created by local artists for the anniversary year celebration. One traveled to SBW branches and community events throughout 2025, while the other remained on display in Bank locations.
The capsule, which will remain sealed for the next 50 years, is scheduled to be opened during Savings Bank of Walpole’s 200th anniversary celebration in 2075.
“This time capsule captures a special moment in our history and the strong connection we share with our customers and communities,” said SBW President Mark Bodin. “We hope those who open it in 50 years will gain a glimpse into the people, values, and community spirit that defined SBW during its 150th year.”
