Mission
In the spirit of Governor Francis P. Murphy, an avid supporter of fostering community ideals and neighborliness, our mission is to provide cultural, social and recreational opportunities for children and adults in Winchester and Ashuelot through prudent financial management and community partnerships.
How Ellen Lambert Murphy Memorial Community Center (ELMM) serves our community
The ELMM Community Center offers many services that the town government might provide because the town of Winchester does not have a recreation department. It is a place for people of all ages to meet and interact and serves as a sports and recreation center, a meeting hall and a special events venue for winter bazaars, flea markets, carnivals, weddings and more.
We are host to some 16 community organizations including the Winchester Women’s Society, the Historical Society, the Garden Club, Girl Scouts, a senior exercise group and senior luncheons. We hold the charter for the Boy Scout troop in Winchester and collaborate with the local ACCESS (after-school enrichment) program. Our sporting programs give school-aged children a place where they can socialize and be physically active and include baseball and soccer for ages ranging from pre-kindergarten to 6th grade, summer basketball for 9th grade to adult and a Youth Bowling League in the winter months (our four-lane candle pin bowling alley is a big draw).
We engage and unite the community in other ways as well, offering bi-weekly teen and youth nights that feature dance, activities, Nerf Nights and more as well as Age in Motion senior fitness classes.
To learn more about our programs or if you have a vision for our youth and would like to join in with the community and help out by volunteering, offering suggestions/ideas or getting on our Board or Trustees, please call us at (603) 239-4316, email us at elmmcenter@comcast.net or visit our website, elmmcenter.org.

“I hereby dedicate these grounds, these buildings to the encouragement of the eternally glorious arts of design, of music, of drama, and the practical handcraft; to the fostering of community ideals and community action; to the development of a spirit of neighborliness, of tolerance in opinions, of civil enterprise and good citizenship.”
—Governor Francis P. Murphy
