Savings Bank of Walpole is Proud to Support the Keene Elm City Rotary
Keene, NH — Savings Bank of Walpole (SBW) recognizes the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our critical non-profit organizations and all they do for our community. SBW has committed to continue its support for all of the cancelled fundraising events including the signature Clarence DeMar Marathon & Half Marathon hosted by the Elm City Rotary. As a result, SBW has continued its $10,000 sponsorship as a title sponsor of the DeMar to support the important work the Elm City Rotary does in our community.
Each year, the Keene Elm City Rotary helps fund a number of important community and international programs with a focus on youth. The “Unsung Hero Scholarship“ program which provides scholarships to local youth who demonstrate a commitment to their community and to overcoming personal hardships and the “Follow ME” Sneaker Program which provides motivation for kids to Move Every-day (ME) by supplying more than 850 brand new sneakers to every second grader in Cheshire County.
“As our community’s local bank, we are proud to support the many organizations that make our community great” says Mark Bodin, President of Savings Bank of Walpole. “One of the challenges of this pandemic is the availability of funds and limited volunteers at a time when the need for services are greater than ever. We feel a responsibility to ensure the good work of organizations like the Keene Elm City Rotary continue”
Over the years, SBW has supported and partnered with the Keene Elm City Rotary by participating as a title sponsor of the DeMar Marathon & Half Marathon, the organization’s largest fundraiser. In addition, SBW employees regularly volunteer their time and are actively involved with many of their programs – from filling many roles at the DeMar, to handing out sneakers, to helping deliver food to local schools. “The sneaker project is one of those feel good initiatives that our staff enjoy being part of. To go to the schools and see how excited the kid’s faces are when they try on their new shoes is truly priceless. This is what the funds from the DeMar truly help support and we want that to continue” says Danielle Ruffo, Community Engagement Officer of Savings Bank of Walpole.
